2021 International Education Week (IEW) Contests

For current FLEX, YES, and HSA students placed by American Councils, read more about how to enter the 2021 IEW contests!

International Education Week is an important part of your exchange experience—it’s not only an opportunity to teach people about your country and culture, but it’s also a great way to get more comfortable with public speaking and learn other leadership skills. However, we also want IEW to be fun, so we hope you will also enter our optional IEW contests.

You may enter as many categories as you wish, but you are only eligible to win one category. The student who places first in each category will receive a prize!

HOW TO ENTER:

Email your submissions to acinbound@gmail.com by Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Please include your first and last name, program, and country in the subject line.

Best PowerPoint Presentation

The winner will be the American Councils student who creates the most original and informative PowerPoint presentation about their home country and culture. Presentations made with programs similar to PowerPoint such as Prezi are also eligible for this category.

Instructions: Submit your full presentation via email (or share via Google Slides).

Most Creative Presentation (non-PowerPoint)

The winner will be the American Councils student who gives a presentation that is most engaging for his or her audience. It may incorporate elements such as traditional dance, clothing, native language, artwork, or food. This presentation shares information about the student’s country in a unique and engaging way.

Instructions: Submit a minimum 2-paragraph description of your presentation and include at least 2 photos of the presentation.

Best Photo

The winner will be the American Councils student who submits the photo taken during IEW that best embodies the spirit of IEW. The photo may be taken by someone else, but it must be a photo of an IEW presentation you gave.

Instructions: Please only submit high quality photos! Photos saved from Facebook or other social media platforms are usually low quality. Please also include a caption when emailing the photo.

Best Short Essay

The winner will be the American Councils student who writes the most thoughtful essay that reflects on the impact of IEW on the student, his or her host community, and the student’s role as a cultural ambassador for his or her country.

Instructions: Submit a 250-500 word essay, preferably in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
