About SHUKRONA

From early childhood, Shukrona cherished her dream of “studying abroad and discovering new things in other parts of the world.” Her friends describe her “as an energetic, positive, and open-minded person.” She loves being active: “Being active comes with a lot of benefits and simply makes me happier.” Shukrona used to have a dog called Rembo and thinks “pets are unique and the most adorable creatures.” Shukrona also loves spending time with her family.

At school, Shukrona maintains a perfect GPA. Her favorite subjects are English, history, literature, biology, and ecology. She is especially passionate about keeping the environment clean and is involved with the ecology club at her school. Shukrona’s dedication to academics is evident not only in her GPA but also in her incredible achievements in academic competitions. She received several medals and certificates from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Education and Science recognizing her excellence in history and English and Russian languages. Some of her favorite activities include traveling, hanging out with friends, reading books, and volunteering. Shukrona works as an English tutor and teaches English at a language center three hours per week.

In the U.S., Shukrona “would like to spend more time with my host family, and do so many activities with them. I would like to create lasting memories.” She is excited to try some apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and buffalo wings. Shukrona wants to be an engaged student and participate in after-school activities, including sports, music, and volunteering. She is looking forward to sharing “more about her country and all the culture, traditions, customs, religion, food, and unique and interesting facts about it.” She is also excited to sing some Tajik songs for her future host family!
