Tetoka

About TETOKA

Tetoka is an active teenager at home, school, and in her community! Tetoka also loves playing volleyball and swimming. She has been playing volleyball for almost five years now, and it has become her favorite activity because, she says, “it makes me happy and helps me forget stressful things in life.” Besides her activities, Tetoka also enjoys spending time with her family, going on picnics, playing in the park, and helping her sister with homework. Her typical day is balanced between studying and playing in the evening, but she takes her household tasks of washing the dishes, babysitting, helping to cook, and cleaning up around the house seriously.

Tetoka love for her family is central to her future academic and career goals as well. An experience with one of her siblings at a young age drives her desire to study medicine and ultimately become a pediatric nurse so she can “help little kids who are sick.” Tetoka also finds a lot of support in her religious practice and considers her Catholic faith to be an important part of her life.

As an intellectually curious high schooler, Tetoka is thrilled at the opportunity to live with a family in the US and both “learn your traditional culture and share mine with you!” She is excited to expand her English skills and experience the new environment of an American school and life in general, but what she is most looking forward to is having “a warm family full of support and love.” She can’t wait to meet you!
