About OLIVIA

Olivia comes from a small village with less than a hundred residents. In her free time, she enjoys staying active and likes to play volleyball, swim, and go to the park. She also has a creative side and enjoys singing and reading. Olivia shares she has great friends and spends a lot of time with them. Some of the activities she enjoys with her friends include going on picnics, studying, and watching movies. When they have sleepovers, they enjoy doing “the girly things like doing makeup, dressing up, putting on face masks, and singing!”

Oliva is an exemplary student and is top of her class in science and math. She received first place in a science competition, as well as in poetry writing. She also knows that she’s someone who can learn from her mistakes and grow into a stronger person. For example, Olivia was once asked to deliver a welcoming speech for the arrival of Australian guests at her school, but she declined the offer as she didn’t feel confident. Since then, she has grown as a person and is proud of her “ability to bounce back from any situation. I can and I will!” This experience has given her the confidence to embrace new challenges during her exchange year. Olivia also credits her mother for her desire to be “a strong and independent girl.” Olivia’s experience shaped how she perceives herself, and now the three words she uses to describe herself are “resilience, self-love, and self-confidence.”

Besides improving her English during her exchange year, Olivia is looking forward to trying activities she’s never tried before, such as “playing soccer, basketball, tennis, and training to become the best runner!” She is also looking forward to testing her independence, “learning how to stand on my feet and to be able to face any problems and situations.” Above all, Olivia is eager to learn how to communicate and interact with new people in the US, share her culture, and learn about American life alongside her new host family!
