About ABDULMALK

One of the first things Abdulmalk would like you to know is that he considers himself to be “really funny and outgoing,” and he’s excited to fit into your family! At home in Jordan, Abdulmalk spends a lot of time laughing with his friends and values his good relationships with each of them. In their free time, he and his friends enjoy hanging out at coffee shops and going to the movie theater. At the end of each day, he heads back home to have dinner with his family, and he values this time they share together.

At school, Abdulmalk is a dedicated student, and he is also involved with extracurricular activities. Abdulmalk takes school serious – especially science classes – since he aspires to becoming a doctor one day! Outside of classes, he especially enjoys participating in debate and spelling bees. After school, you can often find Abdulmalk playing soccer, going to the gym, or swimming. One thing that makes him unique is his love of swimming in cold water! “It gives me energy and that feeling of freshness,” he says, “It takes me to a good mental state.” Both in school and extracurriculars, Abdulmalk focuses on the relationships with his friends and teammates over the outcome of projects and competitions. He’s ready to bring this friendly approach to his new US host family, school, and community!

When thinking about his goals for his year as a YES student, Abdulmalk says that he hopes “to become the best version of me in these eight months!” One thing he is most looking forward to is strengthening interpersonal skills by making new friends and getting to know Americans in his host community. Overall, Abdulmalk is looking forward to “gaining new skills, meeting new people, making new friends, and to discovering new things!” He is sure to be a great addition to his future host family!
